This photo was taken in 1891 and it shows the faint image of Lord Combermere in his favourite chair in the library of his residence, Combermere Abbey. This was taken whilst his actual funeral was taking place. Lord Combermere was knocked over and killed by a carriage in London.
It was Sybil Corbert, an amateur photographer, who took this shot. She had set up the camera to take the image of this library and it took an hour to get the image onto the plate. The figure was not seen in the room at the time.
The figure in the photo shows the upper half whilst the legs seem to not have materialised . Coincidentally (or not) Lord Combermere had his legs badly damaged in his fatal accident.
