A reader of the Mystical Times Blog website wrote and told
me of a very strange encounter that he and a friend experienced several years
ago, on the outskirts of Tewkesbury.
It was an Autumnal evening when Robert and his friend,
Steve, took a walk through fields that run close to the River Severn, and they
walked until they came to a wooded area and found a large log, situated at the
edge of the wooded area, with the fields in front of them. They sat on the log
so that they could take a smoke break. Dusk began to give way to the night as
they chatted away, until they heard movement coming from far inside the wooded
area. There were leaves on the ground, so these made a crunching noise when
this 4 legged creature walked. Robert and Steve thought this was a Deer so
carried on chatting. Several minutes passed when they realised the footsteps
sounded closer, then all of a sudden, they saw a dark, black figure running
towards them, as though it was charging them. Both men froze in fear as they
didn’t understand just what sort of creature it was. It stood in front of them
for several seconds and Robert unfroze enough to point his torch at the figure
but he said the creature was so black, the torchlight was unable to illuminate anything
but the darkness of the figure.
It then turned and ran off towards the field to the left
of the men. Both said this creature looked like a human but running on its
hands and feet, like a dog.
Both men waited for several moments then both ran off in
the opposite direction to the strange creature they witnessed. Robert and Steve
said they would never return to this area again as it frightened them so much.
